On Oct. 12, 1989, the Vikings traded their first- and second-round picks in both the 1990 and '91 drafts, plus their first-round choice in the '92 draft, to the Cowboys in the Herschel Walker deal. While Minnesota, which finished 8-8 in 1991, was sitting out those five rounds, the six NFC teams that qualified for the playoffs last season were drafting players who should contribute for years to come.
