Ashley, 16, who is in only her second year of international
competition, won the overall World Cup championship in the
girls' 13-16 age group. She came in first in four of six
events and finished second twice en route to becoming the
first American girl
to win that
title.

Track and
Field
Krummenacker, a senior at Georgia Tech, won the men's 800
meters at the NCAA indoor championships for the second
straight year. An eight-time All-America, he's also the ACC
titlist in the 800 and the mile and is a member of the
conference-champion
4x400
relay.

Yachting
Larson, 31, a sail salesman, skippered
New
Yorker, a 36-foot racing sailboat, to victory in the Mumm 36
World
Championships. He won eight major regattas in 1997, including the
prestigious Admiral's Cup, to earn the Rolex Yachtsman of
the Year
award.

Sean-Paul Crawford,

Calif.
Gymnastics
Sean-Paul, 17, won the all-around competition in the
southern division of the state championships in the boys'
16-18 age group. He was first or second on each of the six
apparatuses, earning victories in the floor exercise, vault
and high bar and
scoring 49.925 out of a possible 60
points.

Swimming
Kate, a senior at Oak Knoll School, finished her high
school career unbeaten in dual meets. In four years she
raced in every possible event, won five state crowns—three
in the 50-yard freestyle, two in the 100 free—and was the
1998 New Jersey female
swimmer of the
year.

Mariem Lo,
Dakar,
Senegal
Basketball
Lo, a senior computer science major at Central State in
Wilberforce, Ohio, averaged 24.8 points and 10.3 rebounds
and
was the NAIA women's player of the year. A three-time
All-America, she also earned her second selection as an
All-America
scholar-athlete.
