OAKLAND, California (Ticker) -- Erik Hiljus allowed two runs over 5 1/3 innings and Jeremy Giambi had two hits and drove in a run as the Oakland Athletics posted a 4-3 exhibition triumph over the San Diego Padres. Hiljus, who will start the season as the No. 5 starter, did not walk a batter and struck out three. Miguel Tejada went 2-for-2 and Greg Myers also had two hits for Oakland, which had 11. Brett Tomko started for San Diego and allowed two runs and nine hits over six innings. Matt DeWitt allowed two runs and two innings of relief. Deivi Cruz doubled and drove in a run for the Padres. |
