Bid to oust Blazer of US fails to make FIFA agenda

BUDAPEST, Hungary (AP) -- A formal proposal to oust United States official Chuck Blazer from the FIFA executive committee can't be heard on Friday because it was sent too late.

Countries from CONCACAF voted at a meeting on Wednesday to ask for FIFA's help in removing their former general secretary Blazer at a Congress of 208 nations. He denies financial mismanagement allegations.

CONCACAF spokesman Scott Gleba tells The Associated Press: "We've been alerted that the deadline has passed."

FIFA rules require two months' notice of Congress business. One of CONCACAF's 35 FIFA members can still try to force debate on Blazer's status on Friday.

CONCACAF has asked the United States Internal Revenue Service to inspect its affairs.

Blazer has represented the region on FIFA's executive committee since 1997.
